The Broadway League is the trade association of the Broadway industry. As such, the League oversees and promotes the common interests of its membership — theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers of Broadway and Touring Broadway productions, as well as theatrical suppliers, restaurateurs, shipping and freight companies, booking agents, travel agents, designers, ticketing agents, and hotel managers. The League works to increase interest in commercial theatre throughout North America, strives to foster a sense of community among all members, and develops programs addressing the unique needs of its members. Theatre owners/operators, producers, presenters, and general managers of Broadway theatre in New York or in connection with a Broadway series elsewhere in North America are eligible to apply for Associate Membership. Individuals who provide goods or services to the theatre industry (e.g. suppliers, restaurateurs, booking agents, travel agents, designers, ticketing agents, and hotel managers) may apply for Affiliate Membership.
All new applicants for League membership who are active in theatre operations, production, presentation or general management are eligible to apply for associate membership. In general, candidates must have been associated with a qualifying production as defined by the League’s by-laws. Associate members will be reviewed on an annual basis to determine if they meet the requirements for promotion to Full Membership. Full members enjoy all League benefits listed below, and are also eligible for Tony Awards® voter status.
Associate members participate in a broad range of committees regarding marketing, labor, technology, and education. They may also participate in all League activities, including our extensive marketing programs and special events. They have access to industry research and statistics, may attend vital industry networking conferences and forums.
Additional Associate Member Benefits
The League’s membership year runs from September 1 through August 31. Annual dues for Associate Members are $800. In addition, producers and presenters are required to pay weekly dues on paid attendance for current Broadway and touring Broadway productions. Applications are reviewed monthly by the Executive Committee of the League’s Board of Governors.
If you wish to apply as an associate member, or if you have any questions about the League or the application process, please contact Ed Sandler, Director of Membership Services, at esandler@broadway.org.
Any person, firm, or entity that engages in business with the League or its members on a regular basis may apply for Affiliate Membership, including theatrical suppliers, restaurateurs, booking agents, travel agents, designers, ticketing agents, and hotel managers. Affiliate members have many opportunities to meet, communicate, and build relationships with Broadway and touring Broadway producers, promoters from 140 cities across the U.S. and Canada, general managers, booking agents, press agents, and theatre operators. Affiliate members enjoy networking with a targeted audience of decision makers in the Broadway industry.
The League offers many innovative benefits for our affiliate members, including the following:
