New York, NY – Jujamcyn Theaters announced that this season’s Broadway production of A Catered Affair, the new musical with book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle is playing the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street). Preview performances began March 25. Prior to Broadway, the new musical inaugurated the 2007-8 Season at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre (performances began September 20th), according to producer Jordan Roth (Vice President, Jujamcyn Theaters).

The producers also announced that the award-winning stars Faith Prince, Tom Wopat, Harvey Fierstein, Leslie Kritzer and Matt Cavenaugh are matched with an equally lauded design team. Scenic designer David Gallo is represented on Broadway with The Drowsy Chaperone, for which he won a 2006 Tony Award, and Xanadu. Recent credits include the Tony Award-winning revival of Company, Radio Golf and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Ann Hould-Ward won a 1994 Tony Award for her costume design for Beauty and the Beast. Other costuming credits include the revival of Company and the original productions of Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George and Falsettos. Brian MacDevitt won a 2007 Tony Award for the lighting design of Lincoln Center Theater’s The Coast of Utopia, his third. Dan Moses Schreier is currently represented on Broadway with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and is the recipient of three Drama Desk awards for sound design. Recent Broadway credits include 110 in the Shade, The Apple Tree and the 2006 revival of Sweeney Todd. Projections designer Zachary Borovay is currently represented on Broadway with Xanadu. Hair designer David Lawrence’s credits include last season’s Coram Boy and Company. Other Broadway credits include 42nd Street, Bells Are Ringing and Beauty and the Beast.

Funny, heartbreaking and oh so human, A Catered Affair reveals relationships strained to their limits when a couple must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair. Harvey Fierstein's book and John Bucchino's score seize the opportunity to explore the meaning of family and the need for love, both new and reawakened.

A Catered Affair is produced on Broadway by Jujamcyn Theaters, Jordan Roth, Harvey Entertainment/Ron Fierstein, Richie Jackson and Daryl Roth. The musical is based on the Turner Entertainment motion picture distributed by Warner Brothers and written by Gore Vidal, and the original teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky.
