Dear League Member,

Broadway demonstrated once again this season the important role it plays in the artistic and economic vitality of New York and on the Road. Grosses in New York City surpassed the one billion dollar mark for the fourth year in a row at $1.14 billion, representing 11.57 million admissions in 2012-13. League shows across North America grossed an impressive $877 million, representing 13.7 million admissions. Congratulations to the entire Broadway community in New York and on the Road for this highly successful season!

At our Biennial Conference in Miami, FL this past February, Leadership gathered with members to create a vision for the future of Broadway and Touring Broadway. Together, we assessed the current state of the industry and explored where we should be in 2020 for inclusion in our Strategic Plan. And then, in the spring, the Spring Road Conference had a record-breaking 655 registrants making our goal of networking and professional development merge flawlessly.

With your support and participation, The League endeavored to grow and further develop our programs and services with exciting projects such as:

  • We continued to promote Broadway in New York and across the country through an array of events and initiatives, such as national Kids' Night on Broadway® and ¡Viva! Broadway.
  • The successful iTunes Broadway program is now in its fifth year, raising product awareness nationally through free song downloads.
  • We have extended Broadway's reach by a significant marketing campaign for the Tony Awards®.
  • The ongoing, semi-annual Broadway Week promotion has become a staple New York event, with ticket sales surpassing 139,000 in the 2012-2013 season.
  • On the digital front, The League accomplished a major goal this year with the launch of Broadway.org, a comprehensive website offering Broadway information for shows in NYC and on National Tour, in six languages. The site combines ILoveNYTheater.com and TouringBroadway.com to create a "one-stop shop" for the Broadway consumer, and incorporates mobile technology as well with associated iPhone and Android apps.
  • In the coming year, we will make significant progress towards a brand new industry/member site at BroadwayLeague.com, which we hope to launch in the first half of 2014.

As always, we work to provide members with useful information resources:

  • New editions of The Demographics of the Broadway Audience and The Audience for Touring Broadway, both profiling the 2011-12 season, were published this year.
  • Additionally, The League provides Road Lobbying Toolkits and quarterly Government Relations Newsletters to keep you informed and help you interact and work with your local legislators.

As a member, you and your staff are encouraged to take advantage of The League's broad range of programs such as networking and professional development opportunities, conferences, forums, and mentoring pairings, along with other special events. Ongoing programs include Kids' Night on Broadway®; Road Forums; National and New York Education Grants; and travel discounts, to name only a few. This year The League was also proud to partner with ATPAM on a new Diversity Initiative, as part of our efforts to cultivate the next generation of theatre professionals.

The links below and in the sidebar will lead you to the Membership Renewal Form reflecting your current membership status and payment portal for your annual dues. Once again, this year's form includes an opportunity to make a voluntary contribution to our educational foundation. Your contribution would support our efforts to introduce more families to Broadway and Touring Broadway through the Family First Nights® program and would also help fund other core programs such as the Broadway Speakers Bureau, our national distance learning program. Learn more about The League's education initiatives .

Many of our members continue to express the desire to receive communications and materials electronically. To better accommodate your needs, please indicate your preference by checking the appropriate box on your renewal form . Throughout the year, you will find many other opportunities to select electronic communication instead of printed materials. This will help us all become more "green" in a way that works best for you!

Please use the links below or in the sidebar to the left to select your membership type and renew online. Be sure to enter your membership information carefully. Completed renewals with payment are due no later than October 1, 2013 to ensure that your membership is in good standing. We look forward to your continued involvement as a valued member of the League community!

Best Regards,
