High School Broadway Shadowing Program

The High School Broadway Shadowing program connects New York City public high school students with behind-the-scenes professionals, including general managers, stage managers, press agents, and marketing staff, who share insights into mounting and maintaining a Broadway production. This initiative introduces students to vital non-performance careers on Broadway.

Program Structure

The program consists of two parts during the school year.

  1. Broadway Career Exploration Day (December): Students nominated by their teachers attend a one-day event featuring Broadway professionals from various fields. After rotating panel sessions exploring different non-performance careers, students attend a Broadway matinee performance.
  2. High School Broadway Shadowing (March): Following the career exploration day, students can apply for the more in-depth shadowing program. Selected students are partnered with General Management offices to shadow various Broadway productions, seeing these careers in action.

Eligibility

This program is exclusively for New York City public high school students. Students must be nominated by a teacher to participate.
