THE ACCLAIM

“A singing mural of Latin-American life with an infectious score, joyous choreography and the inspiriting flavor of a morning pick-me-up on a warm summer day. Lin-Manuel Miranda winningly marries the flavors of Latin pop, salsa and rap with traditional musical-theater. You can't take your eyes off the performers, and you won't want to.” -Charles Isherwood

“IN THE HEIGHTS has dances that feel like they really might have come off the street, sharp comedy, a rich and kaleidoscopic score, and some of the best lyrics that New York has heard from a young songwriter since AVENUE Q, IN THE HEIGHTS has claimed a swath of new sonic terrain for theater, making one of the most sophisticated theatrical forays yet into that untapped lyrical gold mine, hip-hop. Delightfully enough, here's a musical that owes more to Big Pun than to Bernstein. If you can imagine Do The Right Thing mellowing out, learning Spanish and bursting frequently into song, you'd get near IN THE HEIGHTS. In the way this musical thinks and the way it sounds, it could only have been written right here and now.” - Jeremy McCarter

“Exuberant, sexy and hilarious, bursting with vitality & freshness!” - Frank Scheck

“A musical valentine to New York City’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Fueled by an exuberant mix of hip-hop, salsa, and good old-fashioned Broadway belting. Between the energetic, effortless performances by the talented cast and Miranda’s smart sensibility, Heights is worth the trip!”

“There's a lively block party going on at 37 Arts, and you would be foolish to turn down an invitation.”- Michael Kuchwara

“Big dreams, young love and a winning score.”

“So fresh! This vibrant, spirited and sexy musical has a sincerity that amplifies its infectious charm.” - David Rooney

“A juicy musical with a rich score” – Jacques LeSourd

“IN THE HEIGHTS inspires, encourages and definitely entertains. Bravo!” – Gerson Borrero

“A vibrant, tuneful celebration of community. There's heat and heart and hope in its rambunctious soul.” - Eric Grode

“A lively Upper West Side Story. Impossible to resist!” – Michael Sommers
