eBay Auction to Benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Features Behind-the-Scenes Broadway and Television Experiences

(New York, June 2, 2006) CBS News’ THE EARLY SHOW and The League of American Theatres & Producers, Inc. and have teamed up with eBay to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, through an exclusive eBay auctions. The Auction was organized in conjunction with THE EARLY SHOW series, “My Broadway Debut,” an audience-driven competition that is giving drama students the chance to win a walk-on role in the Broadway smash, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

All of the shows that have participated in “My Broadway Debut”, which include Rent, Chicago, The Wedding Singer, Hairspray, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Avenue Q, have provided special packages for the auction featuring:

• Two VIP tickets to the production
• Meeting the stars backstage after the show

Over this past week, ten finalists, five male/female pairs, have competed in “My Broadway Debut” on CBS’ THE EARLY SHOW. The winning pair is returning to THE EARLY SHOW this Monday, June 5 for a final performance. The winners will then be filmed doing their walk-on role in the hit Broadway musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, with the segment airing later in the week.

THE EARLY SHOW is broadcast weekdays (7:00-9:00 AM/ET) on the CBS Television Network. Michael Bass is the senior executive producer. Nanci Ross is the director of special projects and Joe Long is the producer of the series.
