Three New Officers Elected to
The Broadway League’s Board of Governors:

Nick Scandalios, Chairman of the Board
Albert Nocciolino, Vice Chairman of the Road
Robert E. Wankel, Secretary/Treasurer

(New York, NY)  December 21, 2011 – Broadway continues its 2011-2012 season momentum. In addition to the 19 shows that have already opened this season – joining the 17 long-running shows currently playing on the boards - over 16 more shows have announced opening dates this spring, with more expected to announce.

The Broadway League announces three new Officers elected to its Board of Governors: Nick Scandalios as Chairman of the Board, Albert Nocciolino as Vice Chairman of the Road, and Robert E. The Broadway League membership includes theatre owners, producers, presenters from around the country, press agents, general managers, booking agents, advertising agencies, and industry specialists who represent the various shops that construct scenery, costumes and props.

With their 9 theatres in New York, 12 outside of New York, and 3 in London, his expertise in the New York City and Touring Broadway producing environments brings us unmatched representation of Broadway across the United States. Al Nocciolino has led the Independent Presenters Network, representing producers across the country. His company’s representation of Broadway in nearly 10 markets in New York State and Pennsylvania, and his passion for the business of Broadway nationwide makes him an asset for the League and the multiple committees where he serves tirelessly. Bob Wankel’s tenure and leadership at the Shubert Organization which owns 17 out of 40 Broadway theatres along with his affiliations with Times Square Alliance and numerous educational and charitable organizations brings a vast level of experience and we appreciate his time and dedication.”

NICK SCANDALIOS is the Executive Vice President of the Nederlander Organization, one of the largest owners of legitimate theatres in the world, as well as one of the largest theatrical producing organizations in North America.  He is the Chairman of The Broadway League and on the Board of Trustees for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Vice Chairman of Family Equality Council.  This year will mark his 25th anniversary with the Nederlander Organization.  Nederlander owns or operates theatres in New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL; San Diego, CA; San Jose, CA; Riverside, CA; Tucson, AZ; North Charleston, SC; Durham, NC and London, England.  The Nederlander Organization is currently represented on Broadway by the following productions: Relatively Speaking, Wicked, The Addams Family, Follies, Disney’s The Lion King, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess and the upcoming productions of Ghost, Evita, Newsies, and Jesus Christ Superstar.

ALBERT NOCCIOLINO serves as President  & CEO of NAC Entertainment, Ltd., a company he founded in 1976.  NAC is a diversified entertainment and theatrical company specializing in the presentation of National Touring Broadway shows in New York State (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Elmira, Utica and Albany) and the State of Pennsylvania (Scranton and Erie).  He has presented shows for over 35 years.  Mr. Nocciolino is also responsible for producing and co-producing Broadway shows on Broadway and national touring shows across the country.  He recently co-produced Driving Miss Daisy on Broadway starring James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave. He has been a Tony Award voting member since 1982.  He is currently Vice Chair of the Road, of The Broadway League (the national trade association for the Broadway industry), a founding member and Chairman of the National Touring Theatre Council, and is past President of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN).

ROBERT E. WANKEL is the President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of The Shubert Organization, Inc. as well as a member of the Board of The Shubert Organization and The Shubert Foundation.  He has been with Shubert for more than 35 years.  Mr. Wankel is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of The Broadway League.  He is a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Times Square Alliance. He is also Chairman Emeritus and Trustee of the Board of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts as well as an Officer and Director of The Actors Studio.  Mr. Wankel serves on the boards of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation.
